ABC News has published a video with a split-screen video showing striking similarities between Melania Trump’s GOP Convention speech and Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech at the Democratic Convention.
Melania Trump according to Wikipedia is s the third wife of American billionaire real estate developer and 2016 U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump. She is a Slovene-American jewelry and watch designer and former model. Born in Yugoslavia (now Slovenia), she became a permanent resident of the United States in 2001 and a citizen in 2006.
Michelle Obama is an American lawyer and writer. Throughout 2007 and 2008, Obama campaigned for her husband’s presidential bid, delivering a keynote address at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, and speaking at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
In a portion of the speech where Trump discussed her upbringing, she said “from a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise; that you treat people with respect.”
Roughly eight years earlier, Michelle Obama said that “Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: like you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you’re going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect.”
The Trumps were interviewed on their plane before arriving at the convention center in Cleveland and Melania Trump said that she worked on the speech herself.
“I read once over it but that’s all because I wrote it with [as] little help as possible,” she said in the interview, a clip of which was released in light of the comparisons.
