Stand Up Comedian Vahe Kambourian in Hon Yev Hos

Born in Beirut Lebanon in 1964, Vahe Kambourian is a graduate of N.Palandjian College (Djemaran).
The first play he watched, during a school field trip, inspires him to become an actor and a musician, he teaches himself to play the guitar and starts performing in school activities in his high school years. In 1983 his school theater group comes in second place in an all Armenian high schools contest organized by Hamazkayin, in the role of the agha in “Garmir Jamouts”.

Meanwhile, he starts his own band performing on different occasions for Armenian clubs and schools’ parties.

In 1984, while majoring in Business Computer at the BUC, he gets involved in Theater and TV, becomes one of the most wanted actors in the university, sometimes performing in three different plays for three different directing students in the same week; receiving standing ovations for his roles; such as the psychopath professor in Ionesco’s “The Lesson”. Local weekly “Magazine” publishes about his exquisite talent.

He joins Hamazkain Bourj-Hamoud theatrical group and takes major roles in “hello out there” by William Saroyan and “waiting for Godot” by Samuel Beckett.
In 1992 he joins Zohrab Yacoubian’s group in “Hay ellar, tcher ellar”.
In 1993 he plays the role of the Judge in “Vodki, tadarann e”, the trial of Soghomon Tehlirian.
In 1995 he takes a role in the Armenian telefilm “lesse tsayne serdit”.

In 1996 he prepares for a play with Hamazkain Jedeideh. When it gets canceled, two weeks prior to the opening, his fellow actors, urge him to produce his first own musical play: “Panpasank tche, pann assang e”. In only 15 days, he prepares the play composed of 5 parts.  He writes the screenplay, composes, acts and directs “Hay Tadron” theatrical group achieving unexpected success.
The group only performs in Beirut, but video recordings of the plays find their way all around the Armenian diaspora.

Vahe KambourianHe tours with his band performing an international repertoire in different countries, Syria, Gambia, Dubai, France, Jordan, and Cyprus.

2007-2008 he moves to San Francisco and pursues a musical career, performing in different Armenian community occasions and festivals, meanwhile performing weekly in Al Tannourine Lebanese Restaurant in San Mateo.

In 2009 he returns to Beirut and decides to get back on the stage, as a stand-up comedian, presenting “Hon yev Hos”, based on his experiences in Lebanon and The States.

Music and theater have always been his passion but not a profession. He has moved to the UAE, due to professional opportunities, where he performs music occasionally, and although it is hard to engage in any theatrical activity, he has been working on a play that is ready and waiting for the right time be staged, in addition to a standup comedy waiting in line.

He is married and a father of three.
