A story of a photo: Azeri grandma and Armenian Azatamartik (Warior of a liberty)

A story of a photo Azeri grandma and Armenian Azatamartik (Warior of a liberty)Azatamartik is Sargis Hacpanyan` he participate in war of liberation of Artsakh. Here is a short story of a photo. In April 1993 Qarvachar was liberated by Nagorno-Karabakh Army of self-defence. There were hundreds of peaceful azeri civilians at that time there, mostly elderly people, children and women. Azeri fighters escaped from Qarvachar and leave the civilians helpless in front of NK Army soldiers. When Sargis with his azatamartik friends approached to a group of women civilians and greeted them in their native language the 80-year-old women from that group which was Shekhi khanum (famous in Qarvachar as a poetess, minstrel ) scolded him saying that they come very late and Armenians would soon be there. It was clear for Sargis that old woman misidentified them thinking they was Azeri soldiers. Sargis said that Armenians had already came.

Sargis was responsible for captive civilians. All soldiers were commanded to be polite with peaceful citizens. Azerbaijani people soon realized that unlike the Azeri soldiers, we-Armenians never hurt peaceful civilians. Later these civilians set off to Gandzak and Shekhi khanum told how kind were Armenians to Azeri captives when they were in Qarvachar. This photo was taken by photographers Zaven Khachikyan who was with his friend Ruben Mangasaryan. They came with a group of French journalists and they write an article later in ,,Liberation’’ posting this photo. That article also depicted the opinions and reviews of Azeri people about how caring and friendly towards them in Armenia. And what is interesting, Turkish journalist reposted the same photo and distorting the sense of original article wrote in ,, Milliyet that Armenians kill thousands of civilians in Qarvachar.

P.S. In April 2016 AZERBAIJANI SOLDIERS TORTURED and KILLED PEACEFULL CIVILIANS, BEHEADED THE DEAD BODIES OF ARMENIAN SOLDIERS.
