Brian Dowling has tied the knot with his long-term boyfriend Arthur Gourounlian.
The former Big Brother star and his partner have become the first gay celebrity couple to wed since same-sex marriage was legalised in Ireland.
The dapper grooms looked love-up as they posed for photos following the star-studded ceremony, held on Thursday afternoon at the Powerscourt Hotel in County Wicklow.
The pair both wore matching red flowers on the lapels of their jackets and choreographer Arthur added a dazzling Chanel pin for a touch of glamour.
The happy couple were joined by a host of celebrity guests inlcuding Louis Walsh,Tess Daly and her husband Vernon Kay, and Kimberly Walsh.
Brian chose his best friend Narinder Kaur, who he met on the second series of Big Brother in 2001, as one of his bridesmaids, while showbiz PR Simon Jones acted as his best man.
The glamorous brunette shared a series of snaps on social media as the bridal party celebrated in style against the stunning backdrop of the hotel’s sprawling grounds.
US-born Arthur was clearly excited, tweeting bright and early in the morning: ‘It’s happening the day is here. The CALM before the STORM. Let’s Get ready.’
Meanwhile, Brian kicked off his day by hitting the treadmill at the hotel gym, sharing a snap of the machine’s home screen alongside the caption, ‘My morning view @powerscourthotel A quick run is required to start my Wedding Day!#love #groom #itstoday’.
The reality TV veteran is said to have shed an impressive three stone in the run-up to his nuptials and has been working hard to look his best for his big day.
Brian has been busy sharing sneak peeks of his pampering prep before the big day all week long.
Brian and Arthur have been together for three years and got married legally in London earlier this year.
The couple decided to tie the knot in London as they were uncertain about the outcome of the same-sex marriage vote back home, but since Ireland became the first country to legalise gay marriage by popular vote two months ago, the couple have planned a big white wedding.
‘We did it in London as we didn’t know how the law would go in Ireland. We wanted to make sure we got it right,’ Brian told The Sun.
The former Big Brother presenter and winner of the second series has enlisted his co-star on the show Narinder Kaur as one of his bridesmaids, with the excited groom sharing an Instagram snap of their pre-wedding pampering on Wednesday.
After a day of preening, Brian and his trio of bridesmaids snuggled up for a selfie, with the star captioning the snap, ‘Sssshhhh! I’m getting married in the morning.#wedding #fun #groom #bridesmaids #love #family.’
Brian has also been documenting his pre-wedding slim-down in recent weeks, with the star said to have dropped three stone ahead of his nuptials, celebrating his new look by splashing out on Tom Ford suits for him and Arthur.
Sharing a photo on Wednesday of a lunch date with his sister, the groom joked that he had to remind himself to pick wisely from the menu.
‘Time for some lunch (2) things (1)Aoife u are paying and (2)eat ONLY salad Brian.#lunch #fun #shopping #eatwell,’ he quipped.
Nine weeks ago Brian and his husband issued a heartfelt plea on the star’s Instagram page for the Irish population to vote yes in the historic same-sex marriage referendum.
‘To everyone in Ireland tomorrow please VOTE YES and make history.Let all of us have the chance to have a husband or wife.Love is beautiful @gourounlian #love #equality #weareallthesame #gay #marriage #husband #family #history,’ they wrote alongside a self [images cols=”three”]
