Farewell to Omar Sharif By Henri Verneuil Himself

“When I made Doctor Zhivago they sold me to MGM for $15,000. I made the film for $15,000. My American lawyer said ‘I can sue them’, and I said no, leave it, I don’t want them to think of me as someone who only wants money.”

His real name: Michel Demitri Chalhoub originally from Zahle, Lebanon, but born and raised in Alexandria Egypt. Omar Sharif stole the hearts of Armenians worldwide when he played Hayrig or the Father in Achod Malakian’s AKA Henri Verneuil’s “Mayrig” .

“My philosophy is that when I go out of my room, I’m prepared to love everybody I meet, unless they’re bad.”

The Video above, is the scene of his passing, but more interestingly, it is followed by his Funeral, where the Bishop played by Verneuil is Praying “Our Father” Hayr Mer. Translation Credits to Mr. Ardavazd Yeghoyan.
