France commemorates The Centenary of the Armenian Genocide, April 24, 1915, under the patronage of the Mr. Francois Hollande, President of the French Republic. The commemoration of the Victims of the atrocities of the Ottoman-Turkish Government 1915-1923, that coincides with dramatic news from Middle Eastern Christians who are still being driven out of their land, and have small chance to survive.
Cultural events In memory of the Armenian Genocide centennial will take place, in Indre-et-Loire region (Loire Valley), as the Center of Union of Armenians (UAC) organizes film screenings, conferences, meetings and concerts at Tours Town hall.
In this context, the UAC has requested resident of Chinon, Florence Torossian, to organize two concerts in Tours and Chinon. Armenian choir “Koghtan” of Paris, led by Haig Sarkissian, and guest choir “Chœur à Cœur 37” from Clere-les-Pins, led by Pierre-Yves Sordes, together they will perform a repertoire of Armenian religious and traditional songs.
This Weekend In Chinon
The first concert will be held Saturday, April 11, at 20: 45 pm, at Notre-Dame-La Riche (€ 12 and € 8) in Tours, with the Trio of the Atlantic and the Young Talents of Poulenc Conservatory of Tours (Trio de l’Atlantique et les Jeunes Talents du conservatoire Poulenc de Tours), with the participation of the young violinist of Armenian origin virtuoso from Chinon: Gregory Torossian.
The next day, Sunday, April 12, at 15 pm, the two choirs will perform in Saint-Maurice in Chinon, again accompanied by Gregory Torossian. The event is free for the Public.
